Let's Try This Again

As has probably become apparent, I've never been very good at keeping a diary, either.

I won't try to explain all that has happened in the last four months, but I'll try to tie up a few loose ends. My Faithful Readers have a right to know!

The New Car
We got a Honda Odyssey (see above) over President's Day Weekend. Sort of pathetic--my first new car purchase, and it's a minivan. I was amused to see that Consumer Reports rated Jaguars at the bottom in terms of reliability.

Driver Wanted--and Found!
Our next mission was to sell the Volkswagen Passat. I probably exaggerated its problems a bit in my previous posts, but it is true that it had given us more trouble than I like to deal with, and its repairs tended to be expensive. We had several people come take a look and test drive it, but the couple who ended up buying it were VW enthusiasts like in their commercials. The guy brought along his own handheld scanner, probably the same thing Richard referred to earlier. He was able to tell us as well as the mechanic could everything that was wrong with the car. In the end, I am glad we sold it to him rather than to someone who just wanted the car as safe and reliable transportation for their teenager to drive. This guy knew what he was getting, what needed to be fixed, how to fix it, and, as far as we could tell, how much the car was worth. (We were satisfied with the price we got, anyway, and I doubt that he overpaid us.)
